Modeshift STARS.
Modeshift STARS is the national schools awards scheme that has been established to recognise schools that have demonstrated excellence in supporting cycling, walking and other forms of sustainable travel. The scheme encourages schools across the country to join in a major effort to increase levels of sustainable and active travel in order to improve the health and well-being of children and young people. Every school in England (outside of London) can participate in Modeshift STARS for free. On completion of an application for Modeshift STARS, schools will automatically have a brand new national standard School Travel Plan.

Here at Leys Junior School we are committed to promoting active travel to and from our school and hope that the children who attend our school and their parents/carers will support us in our ambition to improve the health and well-being of children and young people through active travel.
Our school has been awarded the Bronze Award for our commitment to sustainable and active travel, which is a fantastic achievement! We aim to continue to improve and a school and our aim is to improve upon this and work towards our Silver Award in subsequent years.

No idling posters
Some of our children made posters whilst our car park was out of use due to the new build. They made these to encourage parents and visitors to walk where possible instead of using their cars.
