Why do our children love Leys?

We know choosing the right school for your child can be quite a difficult decision. Will they enjoy it there? Will they make friends? Will the school cater for their needs and also challenge them? Asking yourself these questions is a completely normal part of parenthood, however at Leys we are confident that the answer to all these questions is 'Yes!'

Below you will find just a few of the reasons the children at Leys look forward to getting out of bed in the morning to attend school. If you would like to book a school tour, please call the office, or email our Executive Head directly who would be sure to book in a time suitable to show you round our facilities and tell you all about Leys Junior School.

Something all children look forward to is their break and lunch times. A chance to play with your friends and enjoy each others company. Leys encourages and caters for all different types of play. This is one of the reasons we also provide children with an extra break in the afternoon.

The school trips and visitor days
"My favourite thing about Leys is the school trips you get to go on. My favourite was the trip to Murton Park when we got to dress up as a viking! We also have some cool visitors that come into school sometimes too!"

All year groups follow different topics at Leys. All of the topics have a specially planned launch day and end product to look forward to or work towards. Here are just a few examples of the trips or special days the children take part in throughout their time here:

  • Creating a professionally edited film
  • Magna
  • Cadbury's World
  • Dress up and experience life as a Greek
  • Carsington Waters
  • Cresswell Crags
  • Murton Park Viking Day

Recently Updated Library

"The new library books are amazing! There are so many new books you can take home. You get to choose a 'choosing book' each week, as well as your book band book now. I love the new weekly book club we get to do too where we can share our books with friends together!"

The school library has recently undergone a makeover. We have ordered hundreds of new books for the children to enjoy. The books have also been grouped much more clearly for children to find their favourite books much easier. Children at Leys can now choose a book from their book band linked to their reading ability, as well as an extra book which they can enjoy with somebody at home together. We call this their 'choosing book' and this can be chosen from any area of the library.
